Good evening,
Did you try to generate your SAs using PEtLAS Studio ?
In PEtALS you need 1 endpoint per service declared in the WSDL.
But you can declare multiple provide elements in the same jbi.xml file.

Architecture - SourceReader: Definition of 'limit'

Hi,

You are right, limit is the number of item returned by the SourceReader service.

Yann
Architecture - BinaryMediaUnit

No it's not. But it kept a URI to enable it to be part of a triplet.

The goal is to reduce the number of Annotation objects that may be encountered on many level on a Document. So the idea is to only allow them on the "big" object. In this case the idea is to have all annotations expressed on the mediaUnit level including all triple that may qualify the Segment.

This solution simplify a lot both the reading and the writing of RDF-triple and reduce time to process.

News and Announcements - WebLab version 1.2 under work

After almost a month, let's see what have been done.

The technical WebLabCore is now split into the WebLab Exchange Model and the WebLab Helpers.
Thus it will avoid confusion between WebLab Core Architecture and technical implementation of the Model and its tools.

The new Model 1.2 with impacted changes is available in snapshot for tests and debug purposes. Please, do not use it in production applications since this release can change at any moment.

Annotators are design and available too. They replace Weblab Helpers for simple annotation reading and writing.
If you are not really confident with RDF technology, you can use annotator to easily write semantically correct annotations.

You can refer to the documentation for more information to see in which cases Annotators should be more useful than Helpers.

Helpers use has also been simplified. We removed the abstractness of some RDF Helper API since we provide only one implementation of Helpers with JENA. As a consequence, you do not need to embed rdfhelpers.properties in your project no more.

The WebLab team provided also some new services and new features for weblab portlets.
If you are interested with these elements will have to access our SVN since these elements are currently NOT in a production stage.

There is still work to be done:

Fix all evolutions predicted for the 1.2 version

Begin updates of components, services and portlets with the new model

Rework WebLab ontologies to make them more coherent

Finish unitary tests on the WebLab Exchange Model and WebLab Helpers

Provide libraries in OW2 maven repository to avoid model rebuild on an user environment

The stable release is coming...

Tool Installation - Weblab repository integration in Netbeans

I totally agree with you, Netbeans' users should have a solution to use our maven repository.
The problem is that Netbeans checks the .index folder only in the root of the repository. The WebLab Team is not the manager of this repository, we do not have rights to create the nexus index, we just can deploy our personal articfacts.

However I will contact OW2 Maven repository managers and explain them this problem.
Architecture - WebLab v1.2 proposal

I will list here evolutions of the Weblab for the next version. Of course, those evolutions could change depending on feedbacks we receive.

You can see the list of incoming changes in our roadmap.

We want to remove some unused classes (User, Service ...) from the exchange model that will reappear in another form in the dedicated ontology.
The main change is the refactoring of helpers. In fact, I would like to remove them from the WebLab Core. Indeed, it can be confusing for some users to provide Weblab Core with fixed exchanged model but evolving helpers. However, I will provide a WebLab Annotator that enables users to write annotations on WebLab Resources without bothering with RDF constrainsts. The idea is if an user want to add an annotation to set the title of a document, the simplest way to do so is using a setTitle(value) on this document function.

WebLab Core evolutions:

Update exchange model

Regroup annotations on MediaUnit: remove the possibility to put annotations on segments, however they keep an uri thus they can be annotated

Replace current helpers (apis and implementations) by an annotator allowing to write and read annotation using predefined properties from WebLab ontologies

Thus WebLab Core will be composed of:

The model

The extented model

The annotator

WebLab Helpers evolutions:

Remove APIs (bean-helper-api and rdf-helper-api) since we only provide one implementation

Remove redundant features

Simplify helper use and provide more documentations (examples and best practices)

Merge some packages (jena-util and rdf-jena-helper)

Merge API and their implementation

Thus WebLab Helpers will be composed of:

bean-helper-spring

rdf-jena-helper

rdf-jena-helper-selection

rdf-jena-helper-structure

Hi everyone.

Not so long ago we released a new version 1.1 of the WebLab demonstration along with the version 1.1.1 of the WebLab Core. This application allows you to extract metadata from document and index them using a semantic repository. It provides updated services that include well known NLP tools, here is a short non exhaustive list of updated services:

Gate: a general architecture for text processing.

Solr: a fast open source enterprise search platform from the Apache Lucene project.

Jena: a Java framework for building Semantic Web applications.

To download the application, please go there.

Recently, some people are begging for more documentation and communication from the WebLab team. Maybe some of you saw changes in the past days on the weblab-project site.

Well, we are working to provide you with documentations, tutorials and more information about the way we want our project to evolve. All this documentation is now available on our new wiki.

As you can see in our roadmap, the next version of the WebLab is due to July 2010. It will bring some changes in API and the WebLab exchange Model to match feature requests on OW2 forge.

Great, it works fine!

However, I only knew by your hint that a new version of Weblab (including jena-selection) had been released on May 18. This should be of interest to all forum members, so would it be possible to announce new releases by e-mail?

Thanks again,

Tonio
